Established in 1959, the Science Center was the first of its kind in the United States and was the prototype for other centers in the nation. Today more than 48,000 students of all ages participate in interactive "hands-on" classes that teach them how to use the scientific method to hypothesize, discover, investigate, interpret and evaluate. We are providing educational programming that is not currently available in Pinellas County Classrooms.
The Science Center is an independent nonprofit organization. Philanthropic support from individuals plays a vital role in ensuring that the Science Center's education programs continue to be available in our community.

The Science Center is always looking for cheerful, active people to help our cause. Volunteers work in the front office, the gift shop, aid with events and activities and help out with animals and exhibits. [Learn more]

The Science Center is a non-profit facility not affiliated with any institution, city, county or other entity. We accept donations from individuals, groups, corporations, foundations and people like you and me who understand the importance of keeping science education alive and viable!
