NASA and the Science Center present lecture on the Space Shuttle and humans on the moon and Mars!
NASA and the Science Center present Russell Romanella, speaking on what's next for our nation's Space Shuttle program and plans for humans on the moon and on Mars!
Romanella is the Director, International Space Station/Spacecraft Processing Directorate at Kennedy Space Center. His presentation will take place Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. This is the second in a three-part lecture series at the Science Center Learn about the International Space Station, robots exploring the solar system, the Orion Project, The Crew Equipment Vehicle and when humans will explore Mars.

The Science Center is located at 7701 22nd Avenue North in St. Petersburg. It is a private, non-profit facility dedicated to hands-on science programs for children and adults and funded by grants and corporate and private donations.
December 28, 2006 Science Center presents "Wine Under The Stars" Fundraiser, Saturday, Jan. 27.
Wine sampling, star gazing, fine food from top area restaurants, desserts and much more! That's what The Science Center plans for Saturday, January 27, 2007 from 6-9 p.m.
For just $45 per person the evening offers food from The Wine Cellar, Salt Rock Grill, Pepin, Mangia and Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse; wine from Vino 100; music; a dessert room; Planetarium Shows and Observatory Viewings. Also, the entire Center will be open including the Animal and Marine rooms. All proceeds benefit the Science Center, a private, non-profit facility funded by grants and corporate and private donations.

Science Center Names New Executive Director
Board of Directors Chairman, Christopher F. D'Elia has announced the appointment of Madeline T. McNaughton as Executive Director of the Science Center of Pinellas County, effective January 4, 2007.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, McNaughton holds a bachelors degree from John Carroll University. She comes to the Center with banking, sales and chamber of commerce experience. Most recently she was Vice-President of the Business Assistance Program for Pinellas County Economic Development, the city of Pinellas Park, and the Pinellas Park/Mid-County Chamber of Commerce.
"I'm really excited about this new opportunity. The Science Center offers a hands on learning experience in science and mathematics that cannot be found elsewhere. I look forward to guiding the Center as it enters a new era in serving our community and I am truly honored to be part of such a special non-profit organization," she said.
D'Elia stated, "Maddy McNaughton brings enthusiasm, energy, vision and a firm conviction that science and mathematics education throughout the United States needs to improve. She understands the particular challenges we face in Florida and Pinellas County. The Science Center board is delighted in her appointment and we know she will take the Science Center to new heights."
The Science Center has been inspiring an interest in and understanding of science and mathematics since 1959. The Center serves more than 60 thousand adults and children annually through school field trips, fall, spring and summer classes, workshops, events and activities. The Center is a private, non-profit facility funded by some small grants and corporate and private donations. |
